MLC said that the proposal had been stalled for several years, but Siddaramaiah took an active interest and approved it.

MLC Manjunath Bhandary announced that the state cabinet has granted administrative approval for the Rs 270 million textile park project, which will be implemented by the government in Karkala, Udupi district. He explained that by approving the proposal, the government under Siddaramaiah, Chief Minister, Karnataka, has started the process to turn the long-pending project into reality soon.

Bhandary noted that the government had given administrative approval for the establishment of the textile park during a cabinet meeting. He mentioned that the proposal had been stalled for several years, but Siddaramaiah took an active interest and approved it.

He added that the proposed textile park will be developed in Karkala, Udupi district, through a public-private partnership model. The project had been announced by the then Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in 2020-21. Subsequently, the then Minister for Energy, Kannada, and Culture V Sunil Kumar laid the foundation for the project in March 2023. The development of the park is expected to create job opportunities for hundreds of local residents.
