NIFT comes up with ten more design resource centres
According to the Textile Ministry, ten more design resource centres have been set up by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in order to help the handloom sector.

According to the Textile Ministry, ten more
design resource centres have been set up by the National Institute of Fashion
Technology (NIFT) in order to help the handloom sector.
These centres
have been set up at service centres in Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Kannur,
Hyderabad, Meerut, Bhagalpur, Nagpur, Panipat, and Indore. The report also said
that these centres are going to facilitate exporters, weavers, manufacturers,
and designers to get access to design repositories for product improvisation
and development. Also, these centres will be set up in a phased manner.
The big cities
like Mumbai, Delhi, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Varanasi, and Jaipur
already have such established weavers service centres. As per the textile
ministry, each of these weavers’ service centres has accumulated a large number
of handloom designs and samples.
In general, NIFT is the pioneering institute of fashion
education in the country which was set up in 1986.
