Surya Spinners, a South Indian manufacturer of recycled yarn, has boosted production efficiency and yarn quality by installing Rieter’s complete rotor spinning system. The strong lineup of Rieter spinning technology further reduces manual handling and strengthens Surya Spinners’ position in the growing recycled yarn market.

Surya Spinners produces recycled rotor yarn from pre- and post-consumer waste. Essential for this kind of production is to ensure blending consistency and the flexibility to run various blends. Additionally, an efficient production process and high quality of the recycled yarn are crucial for maintaining a competitive edge in the market.

With the Rieter rotor spinning system Surya Spinners relies on a strong line up of technology and has streamlined its operations, enhancing both efficiency and output. The installed system includes Rieter’s blowroom line VARIOline with the precision blender UNIblend A 81, cards C 77, autoleveler draw frames RSB-D 50 and rotor spinning machines R 37.

The success of Surya Spinners is based on many advantages. The UNIblend A 81 ensures precise fiber blending, flexibility to run various blend ratios and reduces manual work. The card C 77 has increased productivity by 88 per cent and cut energy consumption by 27 per cent. Additionally, this improved fibre preparation boosts rotor spinning performance and reduces yarn imperfections by over 23 per cent.

Focus on sustainability

Surya Spinners runs two spinning mills in Vellakovil, South India, and in 2024 reached the key production milestone of 7 500 tons of yarn since its founding in 2010.
