State aims to strengthen textile value chain from farm to exports.
Maharashtra is working towards becoming a globally competitive textile and export hub by integrating the entire value chain from farm to international markets, said Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at the ASSOCHAM Farm to Foreign Conclave 2026 in Mumbai.
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 5F vision of Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion and Fashion to Foreign, Mr Shinde said Maharashtra’s textile heritage, infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities can help expand the global reach of Made in Maharashtra products.
He highlighted key initiatives including the PM MITRA Park in Nagpur, the Amravati Textile Cluster and garment clusters in Ichalkaranji, Solapur and Bhiwandi. He added that the future of manufacturing will be driven by sustainability, digitalisation, transparency and global standards.
The Deputy Chief Minister also emphasised promoting traditional products such as Paithani sarees and Kolhapuri footwear in international markets. A Textile, Craft and Cultural Museum is being developed at the historic India United Mill site in Byculla to showcase Maharashtra’s textile and cultural heritage.
Officials and industry representatives at the conclave highlighted sustainability, traceability, circularity and resource efficiency as key drivers for the future of India’s textile sector. A knowledge report on advancing India’s 5F vision for a sustainable, traceable and globally competitive textile value chain was also released at the event.
