Train to Bangladesh will help export yarn from Ludhiana

Ludhiana

The Indian Railways has taken an initiative where materials like fabrics, goods, and yarn from Ludhiana’s textile garment companies can be exported directly to Bangladesh via trains. MGH Group in collaboration with Ambala Railways has started this initiative. This railway has also loaded a parcel train full of cotton yarn from Ambala Cantt Station to Benapole in Bangladesh. The senior officials at Ambala flagged off this train that consists of 20 parcel vans.

As per the railway department, the customers who will choose this option will get end-to-end transportation solutions such as FMCG, yarn, and fabric from factories running in Ludhiana and Baddi to the final buyer factories in Bangladesh.

According to Vivek Sharma, Senior DCM, earlier the commodities like yarns, fabrics, and goods were transported to Bangladesh via road from Punjab and Haryana. The quantities were small while the freights were high. During the lockdown, the scenario changed and now cotton yarn can be transported in bulk through goods trains. He also said that to move the commodities by train, it is a mandate for the merchants and farmers to mobilize the quantity in bulk.

According to Sunil Tangri, Commercial Head, Vardhman Textiles, this train service will help the textile industry to follow a stringent delivery schedule. He also said that this process will increase India’s exports and boost economies between these two countries.
