Emiza expands Bhiwandi fulfilment centre by 2.32 lakh sq ft

Two new facilities of 75,000 sq ft and 1,57,000 sq ft strengthen Emiza’s fulfilment network across Western India and are expected to create 700+ jobs.

Emiza, one of India’s leading third-party logistics (3PL) providers, today announced the expansion of its Mumbai operations with the launch of two new fulfilment facilities spanning 75,000 sq ft and 1,57,000 sq ft. Located in Bhiwandi, the facilities will become Emiza’s 5th and 6th warehouses in the Mumbai region, adding a combined 2.32 lakh sq ft of capacity to its fulfilment network. Emiza’s latest expansion strengthens this layer of the supply chain in Western India.

The expansion comes as India’s digital commerce ecosystem continues to scale, driven by rising online consumption, wider product assortments and increasing expectations around speed and availability. As brands expand across channels and geographies, the ability to position inventory closer to demand and move it efficiently is becoming increasingly important for maintaining service levels and supporting growth.

This makes robust upstream fulfilment infrastructure critical to supporting distributed commerce. While quick commerce relies on neighbourhood dark stores for rapid delivery, larger regional fulfilment centres hold inventory, process orders and replenish downstream networks. Emiza’s two new facilities will add this capacity, helping brands improve inventory availability, manage volumes efficiently and scale as demand grows. As multi-client facilities, they allow businesses to add warehousing capacity without repeated investments in their own infrastructure, improving capital efficiency as they expand.

Commenting on the expansion, Ajay Rao, Founder & CEO, Emiza, said, “For brands to scale, the logistics infrastructure behind them has to scale ahead of demand. Our investment in Mumbai is about creating that capacity. These facilities will allow our customers to hold deeper inventory, manage larger volumes and expand their businesses without logistics becoming a constraint. At the same time, an expansion of this scale creates employment and strengthens supply chain capability in the region. We see this as Emiza’s contribution to both the growth of our customers and the larger commerce ecosystem developing across India.”

Jitendra Kumar, Co-founder, Emiza, added, “For a growing brand, warehousing has a direct bearing on the economics of the business. As volumes increase, inefficient inventory placement, fragmented capacity and repeated infrastructure changes can add high costs. By creating larger fulfilment capacity in Mumbai, we can help brands scale within a more efficient operating structure, improve inventory utilisation and add capacity as the business grows. The objective is to make logistics an enabler of growth without allowing fulfilment costs to increase at the same pace.”

Designed as high-capacity regional fulfilment hubs, the two facilities will strengthen Emiza’s logistics network across 11+ cities and 11+ states. They will feature environmental controls and purpose-built infrastructure to maintain suitable operating conditions for inventory. Technology-enabled systems will support storage optimisation, streamline inbound and outbound operations, improve inventory visibility and enable faster replenishment across downstream networks.

The expansion is expected to generate 700+ job opportunities across warehousing, transportation, supply chain operations, technology, security and allied logistics services. As multi-client facilities, the centres will also support wider economic activity across the logistics ecosystem by providing scalable infrastructure that multiple businesses can leverage as they expand.

As India’s digital commerce ecosystem expands across categories, channels and geographies, the ability to build fulfilment capacity ahead of demand will become increasingly important. Emiza’s expansion in Western India is aimed at providing the infrastructure businesses need to scale while improving the efficiency, flexibility and resilience of their supply chains.
