New facility boosts sustainable, industry-linked textile innovation.

The Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) has unveiled a modernised Textile Dyehouse laboratory, upgraded through Archroma’s CSR support, marking a significant milestone for industry–academia collaboration. The renovated facility, inaugurated on December 3, 2025, by Anjani Prasad, senior leadership team, Archroma, showcases enhanced capabilities designed to drive future-ready textile research and training.

The state-of-the-art laboratory now houses advanced systems for recycling and sustainable textile processing, characterisation and performance analysis, and automation and functional finishing techniques. These additions position the centre as a robust platform for students, researchers and industry partners to experiment with next-generation methodologies that align with global sustainability and quality benchmarks.

The event was graced by the Prof Pandit, VC, ICT; Prof Teli, former HoD of Textiles and ICT Deans, who lauded the initiative. During the ceremony, Prof Kale and Dr More outlined the strategic objectives and highlighted how the upgraded infrastructure will strengthen ICT’s contribution to textile science.

Anjani Prasad, senior leadership team, Archroma, inaugurated the facility.

The collaboration between ICT and Archroma was celebrated as a model partnership demonstrating how shared vision can elevate India’s research ecosystem. The gathering witnessed an atmosphere of enthusiasm, with stakeholders expressing renewed motivation to advance the goal of “Regaining Glory and Transforming Textiles.”

Prasad assured continued industrial support, emphasising the company’s commitment to nurturing innovation and skill development. In response, Prof Pandit, ICT, reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to pioneering research and preparing the next generation of chemical technologists for global challenges.

The upgraded Textile Dyehouse laboratory stands as a testament to the power of collaborative action in shaping a more sustainable and technologically advanced textile future for India.
