Compressed air dryer – Refrigeration type

It is best to ensure that compressed air is dry and clean before it is used in any pneumatic process. Moisture is always present in the compressed air along with dust particles, oil (oils particles are introduced by lubricated air compressors) and solid contaminants which can adversely affect air quality. If the compressed air is not dry there will be corrosion in compressed air pipe line, pneumatic tools and systems, which will lead to their malfunctioning. The only positive means of moisture removal is the installation of compressed air dryers. In most cases, refrigeration dryer are suitable where application require ADP up to -20°C (-4°F). Refrigeration dryers are low in first cost, operating cost and energy consumption, making them the most cost effective solution for drying for general instrumentation and controls. In most cases, desiccant dryers are suitable where application require ADP up to -40°C to -60°C(-40°F to -76°F).

Refrigeration dryer operates on the method of cooling the air near to freezing point to remove the moisture and reheating it to approximately 10°C below the incoming compressed air temperature at nominal conditions. It is designed for just the right quality of air at the most economical costs. It has wide instrumentation air where requirement is between 3°C PDP to 6°C PDP. It use less energy and hence low operating cost. The FDI series air dryers a packaged self contained unit, fully automatic and produces a steady level of dewpoint. They are available in 28 standard models, with capacities from 10.6 CFM to 6000 CFM. It provides Atmospheric Dew Point down to -20°C approximately. Complete dryer operation overview from Delsmart Card MIMIC display, available in air and water cooled versions. Its energy saving, low power consumption and easy acceptability for maintenance. It can be specially designed for high pressure applications with optional features such as filter suitable for high pressure application, dryer with by pass line and valve.

Desiccant dryers are based on the principle of heatless regeneration or heated regeneration and the physical properties of their desiccant to adsorb and desorb the water vapours. It uses pressure swing principle / temperature Swing to regenerate the desiccant bed. Desiccant dryers are offered in four options as a complete range : Heat of compression, no loss split flow, blower reactivated and standard heatless type. The standard units in certified ratings are offered from 6 Nm3/hour to 10,000 Nm3/hour. Special units can be built to handle any pressure and air capacity with atmospheric dew points as low as (-)70°C. Special features of dryers include: reliable and long life valves and switching devices, solid state controls, microprocessors based optional DelSmart card for continuous monitoring, readouts, energy conservation and fault detection alarms.

Delair India, a Pahwa Group company, specializes in designing, engineering and manufacturing of Compressed Air and Gas Drying Systems – refrigeration and adsorption type. The company is largest in compressed air treatment in terms of numbers of units sold, customer base, sales and service network, and capacity of units sold. Delair manufactures refrigeration dryers, desiccant dryers, gas dryers, air receivers, after coolers, moisture separators, air filters and auto drain valves.
