Readymade

government once again after the on-going strict restrictions on public
movement.

The government announced
stimulus package worth Tk 5,000 crore with 2% interest for the payment of
workers’ wages of export sector in March 2020. Apparel and textiles exporters
received the package and later the amount reached to Tk 10,500 crore.

Bangladesh Knitwear
Manufacturers and Exporters Association president KM Salim Osman said in a
letter to the members of the trade body that the government was aware about the
dire situation of the RMG sector and the association would appeal to the prime
minister for further stimulus after the lockdown. He added that, they would
appeal to the prime minister for further stimulus package after the lockdown
and he believes that the prime minister would extend her support to the sector
like the previous days.

Salim Osman said that the
government announced strict lockdown from July 23 – August 5 across Bangladesh
after consulting with
World Health Organisation as the present (delta) variant
of Covid-19 is very lethal. He also requested all factory owners to keep
their units closed despite the loss of business.
