Europe still dominates in textile technology, but India is no laggard. It has created its own niche. With 158 exhibitors at the present ITMA 2015, Indian textile machinery and spares industry has come a long way to spread its wings since 1975 when at the same Milan, India fielded a lone exhibitor. Swissmem is the Swiss association of mechanical and electrical engineering industries (MEM industries). Swissmem was created by the merger of two associations: ASM (Association of Swiss Engineering Employers) und VSM (Swiss Association of Machinery Manufacturers).
The Techtextil and Texprocess, the two leading international trade fairs, show the world´s biggest spectrum of materials, processes and technologies for the entire textile value chain. This year´s show attracted around 42,000 visitors from 116 countries, whereas attendance increased by about 6 per cent in comparison to the previous show in 2013.
Swissmem is the Swiss association of mechanical and electrical engineering industries with more than 330,000 employees. In 2013, the nearly 1,000 member companies of Swissmem exported goods worth 65 billion Swiss francs.
