The world’s most productive texturing machine with 576 positions simultaneously excels in terms of its extremely space-saving construction, says André Steingass of Oerlikon Barmag.

According to estimates, the demand for airbags will increase by 5 per cent annually over the next five years. To date, airbags have been predominantly manufactured using polyamide 6.6 yarns.

The market for industrial yarns continues to diversify and develop very much in line with the specific end applications, finds Oerlikon Barmag. Last year, the Remscheid-based systems manufacturer Oerlikon Barmag secured an above-average number of industrial yarns projects.

Two spinning concepts for the economic production of high quality bico filament yarns promise tailormade solutions for all applications, explain Günter Schütt and Susanne Beyer from Oerlikon. Although bicomponent yarns have been around for about 50 years now and they are not a new phenomenon, we have seen a constant increase in demand over the past few years (with frequent fashion-related peaks in 2015, for example). Reasons for this development are manifold. In addition to current fashion trends, new, highly-efficient solutions for manufacturing textile fabrics such as circular knitting, for instance, reduce production costs.

In Hall 16 the main focus will be on solutions for tape production. The new developments from the Chemnitz-based think tank focus mainly on the EvoTape machine combined with the automatic tape yarn winder WinTape and – a trade fair premiere – an automatic baler yarn winder. Presented for the first time at the K three years ago, the combination of tape system and winder yields significant profitability increases of as much as 50 per cent – not only for carpet backing and geotextiles processes, but now also for baler yarn processes – compared to standard machines available on the market.

The Manmade Fibers segment of the Swiss Oerlikon Group will be represented with its two Oerlikon Barmag and Oerlikon Neumag competence brands. ´In a market that is proving to be increasingly difficult, we will set new trends with our innovations and once again change the markets´, promises André Wissenberg, Head of Marketing, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs.

The Segment Manmade Fibers of the Swiss Technology group Oerlikon will be opening an additional service centre in Dalton, Georgia, the heart of the American carpet industry. The official opening will take place on August 13, 2015. ´
