Piyush Goyal advised Shah to visit textile centres like Surat, Noida, Tiruppur, and Coimbatore, among others.

After UP Singh, the secretary of the Ministry of Textile, retired on October 31, Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Rachna Shah, an additional secretary with the department of commerce at the time, officially took charge of the position on November 1. Shah was introduced to export promotion councils (EPCs) via videoconference by  Piyush Goyal, Union Textile Minister.

He advised Shah to travel to major textile centres like Surat, Noida, Tiruppur, and Coimbatore, among others. Furthermore, applications under PM Mitra proposed near these hubs may be visited for observation and recording of industry representatives’ responses.

Goyal added at the conference that new projects should make use of the funds that are available under the Textile Mission. He added that the G-20 could highlight the textile industry’s potential. He said it might also be pursued to have business representatives participate in the shopping festivals that the Finance Minister recently announced.
