Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Giriraj Singh, Minister of Textiles, visited Brands of India Pavilion by Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) at Bharat Tex 2025, New Delhi. The CMAI pavilion featured 40+ leading apparel brands showcasing the strength of India’s domestic apparel industry. Also, CMAI has been involved in introducing 100+ MSME exhibitors in sections like apparel and fashion, textile and fabrics, start-up and innovation.

As an integral part of the Bharat Tex Trade Federation, The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) played a pivotal role at Bharat Tex 2025, showcasing India’s apparel industry strength through Brands of India Pavilion, led insightful panel discussions, and reinforced its sustainable initiative by launching SU.RE website in association with the United Nations; and a Sustainable Supply Chain Directory in association with Centre for Environment Education (CEE) and Global Alliance for Textile Sustainability Council (GATS). These new initiatives are expected to further foster successful collaboration between brands, manufacturers, policymakers and sustainability experts to shape a regenerative future for Indian Fashion that prioritizes people, the planet and industry resilience.

Speaking at Bharat Tex 2025, which was held at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stated “Today, we are the sixth largest textile exporter in the world. Our textile exports have reached three lakh crores of rupees. Now, our target is to take it to nine lakh crores of rupees by 2030. But I want to say that after seeing the enthusiasm of people today, I feel you all will prove my target wrong, and the work will be completed before that.”

Speaking about the Brands of India pavilion, Santosh Katariya, President, CMAI, emphasized the shift toward sustainability and innovation, stating, “It is a moment of immense pride for CMAI to once again present the Brands of India Pavilion at Bharat Tex 2025, showcasing the strength and innovation of India’s domestic apparel industry. The presence of Hon’ble Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, and Hon’ble Shri Giriraj Singh, Minister of Textiles, Government of India, at our pavilion is a testament to the Government’s strong support for India’s apparel sector and its vital role in the nation’s economic growth. As a key pillar of employment and manufacturing, the apparel industry is a driving force behind India’s self-reliant vision. CMAI remains committed to empowering Indian apparel manufacturers, brands, and start-ups to compete on a global scale and strengthen India’s position as a leader in the industry.”

Rahul Mehta, Chief Mentor, Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), expressed, “CMAI’s initiatives at the event played a crucial role in fostering this evolution, bringing together industry leaders and emerging labels that are shaping the future of fashion and retail. At Bharat Tex 2025, CMAI provided a dynamic platform for growth, innovation, and collaboration— from showcasing India’s top homegrown apparel brands through Brands of India, to driving policy-led initiatives like INDIAsize, exploring opportunities in value retailing, and reinforcing sustainability through the SU.RE initiative.
