November 27, 2016 saw the inauguration of a new apparel and garment making centre at Imphal, Manipur by Smriti Irani, Union Minister for Textiles, Government of India. The apparel centre was inaugurated in the presence of Okram Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur.

In a major expansion plan, textile manufacturer Nahar Industrial Enterprises (NIEL) has installed two new units?Monforts Montex stenter and a Thermex continuous dyeing range?from Monforts to increase the production of Nahar fabrics.
