This new power generation unit, situated in Arniwada-Banaskantha, Gujarat, has an installed capacity of 9.3 MW of solar power.

Indo Count Industries (ICIL) announces the inauguration of its solar power generation unit, taking a step towards sustainable operations and environmental stewardship. ICIL’s Solar Power generation unit, situated in Arniwada-Banaskantha, Gujarat, has an installed capacity of 9.3 MW of Solar Power. ICIL’s new solar power unit is dedicated for captive consumption at its Bhilad unit. By harnessing solar energy, ICIL aims not only to reduce its carbon footprint but optimise energy costs. This strategic move underscores ICIL’s pledge to green energy, with over 90 per cent of the Bhilad unit’s operations powered by renewable sources.

Anil Kumar Jain, Executive Chairman of Indo Count Industries, stated, “As we open this solar power plant, we’re not just starting a new solar generation unit but we’re starting a journey towards a greener future, it’s yet another step towards our commitment to sustainability and meeting global standards for responsible business practices”.

ICIL’s vision is deeply rooted in the understanding that our planet’s resources are limited. By reducing its dependence on fossil fuels, ICIL leads towards a cleaner and more sustainable future. This step showcases ICIL’s commitment and alignment with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals.

ICIL’s efforts to promote environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices align with global standards like the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) principles, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The company also actively participates in reporting initiatives such as the Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), S&P Global ESG Score, and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). ICIL has exceeded global averages in these areas, showing its commitment to tackling climate-related challenges. Furthermore, ICIL’s involvement in projects like Walmart’s Project Gigaton, where it has earned the Giga Guru title for five years straight, highlights its dedication to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its supply chain. Additionally, the company’s membership in ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) and participation in studies like the United Nations Global Compact India & Accenture-led CEO study on Sustainability further establish its position as a leader in sustainable business practices.

By opening this state-of-the-art solar power generation unit, Indo Count Industries shows its commitment to sustainable energy solutions while setting a standard for responsible business practices in the textile industry.
