Indo Count Industries Ltd, a leading manufacturer and exporter of home textiles, has been internationally recognised for its proactive measures and coordinated action on climate issues by CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project). CDP is a renowned international organisation that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies etc to manage their environmental impacts. Indo Count achieved a ‘B’ score which is in the management band (taking co-ordinated actions on climate issues) garnering a score higher than the average ‘B-’ for companies across Asia as well as the globe. It is also far ahead of other companies in the textiles & fabric goods domain, that had an average score of ‘C’.

This initiative covers metrics such as value chain engagement, emission reduction initiatives, risk management processes, governance, business strategy and financial planning etc., disclosing its contribution, initiatives & improvements in the ‘Climate Change’ module at CDP. The module aims to make environmental reporting & risk management a business norm, driving disclosure, insight & action towards a sustainable economy.

Commenting on the scores, Anil Kumar Jain, Executive Chairman, said: “Sustainability has always been at the heart of all our undertakings, as a responsible and environment-conscious textile company. We are proud to have been recognised yet again for our sustainability efforts. We have been consistent in fulfilling our great vision to minimise environmental impact as much as possible. Indo Count’s focus remains on its diverse eco-friendly initiatives and sustainable product offerings. For us, growth and corporate responsibility go hand in hand, and we remain more committed than ever towards the cause, as we transform the world for the better, one thread at a time.”

Indo Count has, over the years, created a sustainable value chain undertaking various initiatives that support energy and water conservation, sustainable farming, and climate protection among others. In collaboration with Walmart, the company has also contributed towards Project Gigaton for reducing GHG emissions. It has been felicitated with the title ‘Giga Guru’ for three consecutive years. Indo Count has also been recognised as a top performer in the most recent Walmart Global Sourcing Sustainability Summit. Project GAGAN – a sustainable cotton initiative by the company helps farmers to cultivate sustainable cotton through Better Cotton Initiative (BCI).
