Peter Summo is taking over as president of WACKER POLYMERS effective October 1, 2016. He is succeeding Arno von der Eltz, who is retiring on this date. He previously headed the engineering silicones business unit at WACKER SILICONES. Summo studied business administration in Augsburg, Germany. He subsequently worked at Akzo Nobel – a producer of specialty chemicals – in the area of product marketing, before joining WACKER in 1995.

Volatile prices for energy and commodities, requirements from brands, retailers and end consumers as well as government regulations have made sustainability a major challenge for the textile industry. For these reasons, resource efficiency is one of the premium targets of technical developments. The increased responsibility for work safety and workplace design is also an aspect of sustainability to which textile companies pay more and more attention.

The politics of Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill may take some more time to sort out, but its basic impact on various industries can be analysed beforehand. GST and its impact on the textile sector was the hot topic of discussion at the recently-concluded 58th Annual General Meeting of Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), held at Hotel ITC Maratha, Mumbai on September 28, 2016. Speaking on GST were: Sachin Menon and Santosh Dalvi from KPMG, and Sanjeev Saraf and Dilip Dixit from BSR & Associates.

After the successful completion of ITMA Asia event, ColorJet Group now looks to expanding its footprint in the South Asian markets. ColorJet Group, which also operates a manufacturing facility in China, offers digital textile printing machines with efficient engineering and innovative technologies. The Group expects to repeat its success in the Indian market in other countries like Vietnam, Philippines, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Indonesia, while also making deeper inroads into China.
