Ahmedabad eyes new eco 100-acre textile park

The new textile park anticipates attracting approximately 50 textile processing units, thereby creating numerous employment opportunities.

A state-of-the-art textile industry park, aimed at addressing pollution challenges, is set to be established near Ahmedabad. The park, developed by Rupam Eco Green Textile Park, is slated to cover 100 acre in Mahijadi village and will integrate cutting-edge environmental infrastructure.

A notable feature of the park is a 6 million litres per day (MLD) ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge) system – an advanced wastewater treatment process designed to recycle water and eliminate liquid waste discharge. It is projected to achieve 96 percent water recovery and reuse, saving an impressive 17 crore litres of water per month – equivalent to the needs of 30,000 people.

Previously, the state had facilitated the Vibrant Industrial Park near Khambhat to establish a similar sustainable hub for chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

The new textile park anticipates attracting approximately 50 textile processing units, thereby creating numerous employment opportunities. This development serves as a significant boost for Ahmedabad’s textile industry, which has witnessed the closure of some units for two years due to stringent pollution regulations.

Ahmedabad stands as a prominent cotton textile hub, boasting over 800 units with an installed fabric processing capacity exceeding 3,500 million meters annually. The eco-friendly park aims to provide a sustainable solution while continuing to propel growth in this critical industrial sector.
