Myanmar minister and Indian delegation in talks on equipment imports

The focus was on machinery essential for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Dr Charlie Than, the union minister for industry in Myanmar, recently held a meeting with a delegation led by Vice-President PK Shah from Nipha Exports from India, in the reception hall of the union minister’s office.

During the meeting, it was discussed that there was a need for the import of essential industrial equipment required for Myanmar’s industrial sector. The focus was on machinery essential for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as well as equipment for garment and textile industries, steel, cement, and medicine. The goal was to enhance production and address important technology support issues.

Additionally, matters related to the promotion of trade and investment between India and Myanmar were explored during the meeting. Both parties discussed ways to facilitate trade activities, including the possibility of enabling direct payments in Indian rupees and Myanmar kyats. These measures were aimed at streamlining trade transactions and promoting economic cooperation between the two nations.
