New solar installation boosts clean energy use in textile operations.

Mafatlal Industries Limited (MIL), the flagship company of the Arvind Mafatlal Group, has strengthened its sustainability roadmap with the commissioning of a 4 MW solar power project at its Nadiad manufacturing facility. Executed in partnership with Kosol Energie, the initiative marks a key milestone in the company’s long-term transition towards clean and energy-efficient manufacturing.

One of India’s oldest and most respected textile institutions, Mafatlal Industries has historically embedded responsible business practices into its operations, well before sustainability and ESG frameworks became mainstream. The new solar project represents the next phase of this legacy, reinforcing the company’s focus on building a resilient, energy-secure and environmentally conscious manufacturing ecosystem.

The ground-mounted solar installation is expected to generate nearly 6.5 million units of clean energy annually. This will significantly reduce reliance on conventional grid power, enhance operational efficiency and support the company’s broader decarbonisation objectives. By integrating renewable energy at scale, Mafatlal Industries aims to strengthen long-term competitiveness while creating sustainable value for stakeholders.

Commenting on the development, Priyavrata Mafatlal, Managing Director, Mafatlal Industries Limited, said, “At Mafatlal Industries, sustainability has never been a new direction; it has always been part of our DNA. For over a century, we have believed that responsible progress is the only progress that lasts. This solar initiative strengthens that belief and marks an important step in how we prepare our business for the future.”

Kalpesh Kalthia, Chairman & Managing Director, Kosol Energie Private Limited, said, “This 4 MW solar project is more than an energy installation; it reflects a shared vision for a cleaner and more responsible manufacturing future. This collaboration stands as a testament to the growing trust in our technology and engineering capabilities.”

The Nadiad facility, one of Mafatlal Industries’ largest production centres, has been central to its growth journey and houses a multigenerational workforce. Alongside renewable energy adoption, the company continues to focus on responsible water usage, improved waste management and cleaner production processes, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable growth in the Indian textile industry.
