The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) has published the 13th edition of its Restricted Substances List (RSL) which covers apparel, footwear and home textiles. The list identifies chemicals and other substances restricted in consumer products that are regulated through US governmental regulation or law, as well as the European Unions REACH programme and other national regulations.

The AAFA RSL provides the US apparel and footwear industry with a variety of tools to help make optimum sourcing decisions and assists the industry in creating a safer and sustainable supply chain.

Changes on the Restricted Substances List from Release 12 to Release 13.

  • Updated the REACH SVHC Candidate List in Appendix I – Reporting.
  • Updated information for Korea Safety Quality Mark Act (KC Mark) in Appendix II – Labelling.
  • Updated the chemical list of Non-regulated substances on the AFIRM RSL Guidance in Appendix III – AFIRM Extra.
  • The AAFA RSL is reviewed and updated on a regular basis, and the latest version is made available for free.
