The Crafts Council of Karnataka is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the development and sustainability of traditional arts and crafts. It is affiliated to Crafts Council of India and World Craft Council. In addition to bridging the gap between traditional artisans and the market, the council provides them with a platform to enhance their technical knowhow and skills. They provide the artisans, designers and weavers with education and training on dealing with contemporary buyers through design intervention, product development and market access. Through the exhibition, the Crafts Council of Karnataka aims to provide the artisans a platform to display their products and create a sustainable livelihood for them.
Padmaja Sakhamuri, Convener for this year’s Vastrabharana said, “We are delighted to return to Mumbai with our exhibition for the third time. Our last two editions received tremendous response and we look forward to welcoming a higher number of lovers of Indian arts and crafts this year too.
