According to a leading newspaper, Zambia offers huge potential for the cotton textile industry. Zambia, four provinces?Eastern, Central, Southern and Lusaka?harvest an average of 500 kg of cotton per hectare. Last year, the country harvested 100,000 tonne of cotton. One of the major reasons for the sudden increase in the cotton production this year is because of the increased support and input provisions provided by ginners to cotton growers.
