Over 100 workers from the textile industry protested in Gurugram recently. Gurugram is a hub for textile manufacturing and thousands of workers are employed in the sector. However, the workers claim that they are not paid as per the pay scale prescribed by the government. Following this, they protested in Udyog Vihar recently. Garment and Allied Workers Union gathered in the area and held out a rally. The workers were holding banners demanding full wages, and raised slogans.

“The minimum wages were revised by the government two years ago. But the textile units are still paying old wages to the workers. The workers are delivering the skilled labour, but they are being paid as per the semi-skilled or un skilled labour,” said Satbir Singh, CITU leader.
