The Lenzing Conclave in Varanasi gets an overwhelming response from the weaving community

The event highlighted the latest fibre options that are shaping the future landscape of the regional traditional wear textile industry.

Lenzing Group, leading global producer of wood-based specialty fibres, exhibited their trendsetting Tencel & Lenzing Ecovero fibres for traditional wear applications, at The Lenzing Conclave in Varanasi on April 26. The event highlighted the latest fibre options that are shaping the future landscape of the regional traditional wear textile industry.

The weaving industry of Varanasi is renowned across India & the world for its Banarasi sarees produced by the local craftsmen. And in the midst of a textile industry revolution, there’s a pressing demand to fuse tradition with innovation, crafting fabrics that are both sustainable and bring more performance features for consumers. During the conclave Lenzing group showcased a range of sarees developed using Tencel branded lyocell fibre, Tencel Luxe branded filament and Lenzing Ecovero specialty viscose fibre, which have been blended with existing popular fibers. These developments bring added benefits of comfort, long lasting softness as well as better sustainability standards to the end products. The innovations received great response from the local weaving community for its potential in conserving regional textiles by making them stay on the forefront of innovations and create future forward traditional wear. Such products by Lenzing have been rapidly picking up in different parts of the country.
