The Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh has
come up with two hubs of readymade garments. The brand factory for the same has
been registered under the name DANNEX.
Total 4 units of
Nava Dantewada Garments Factory will be launched in this area because of the
efforts of local women and the district administration. The garment factory is
expected to give employment to more than 1,000 poor women. The Geedam block of
the district is lucky to have the first unit of the factory whereas Barsur has
the second unit. The women registered in these factories are under their
training period. They will be trained in the methods of industrial production.
After these women will complete 45 days of training, they will be given an
incentive of Rs 3,500.

Soni, District Collector, Dantewada, the Nava Dantewada Garments Factory wants to improve the lives of
people who are living below the poverty line in the Dantewada district. He also
told that women have been first identified by the administration through a
survey and then they will be trained so that their skills can be put to use.
Currently, 150 women are undergoing training. He added that the units of the factory
have 100 sewing machines and two units will be operational in the next 3 to 4
months.
Soni also said
that unemployed people join the Maoist groups. If they are offered respectable
employment, the youth won’t join the wrong paths. As per Anju Yadav, who has
completed training in the factory, she could only earn Rs 2000 by doing sewing
work at home. Now she can earn Rs 7000 in the factory. Another woman said that
they feel more independent now.
