The Narendra Modi-led government recently elected Santosh Gangwar as the Minister of State for the Ministry of Textiles. He was educated in Rohilkhand University, Bareilly and at University of Agra.
After taking a charge as the textile minister, Gangwar said, ´My aim is to create more jobs, help improve the economy by boosting the textile sector. I shall soon present a roadmap for developing the sector.´
Gangwar said that the textiles sector has a huge potential to provide large number of jobs to the vulnerable sections of the society.
Before becoming the textile minister, Gangwar was Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas with additional charge of Parliament Affairs in 13th Lok Sabha. Prior to this, Gangwar was Minister of State of Science and Technology with additional charge of Parliamentary Affairs during October and November 1999. Gangwar was instrumental in establishing the Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd in Bareilly and was its chairman from its inception in 1996. Under his commitment towards overall development of villages, he has initiated a project in Bareilly on Integrated Rural Development through Co-operative Movement using Animal Husbandry Technologies. He has managed to get the projects of Chopula ROB, mini bye-pass and state-of-the-art library executed as pride milestones for Bareilly.
