Export of man-made fibre (MMF) yarns from India shot up by 35.9 per cent year-on-year basis by scaling a new peak at $20.76 million in June this year.

For the man-made fibre industry (MMF) in India, its disgruntlement is turning into unceasing aggression. The reasons are many: China exports 65 per cent of manmade textiles out of its exports of $650 billion while India´s share of manmade textiles is hardly 20 per cent out of its exports of $40 billion.
The certified Dornbirn-MFC intends to continue as “Green Meeting & Green Event†and its criteria will be based on sustainable arrival, reduction of CO2 (carbon dioxide), ecological catering, eco-friendly accommodations as well as material – and waste management.
The Cotton Association of India fears that India may be piling up huge inventory of cotton just like China, if the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) does not take measures to offload its stock swiftly. Maintaining the cotton output at the last estimated level of 38.27 million bales (a bale is 170 kg), Dhiren N Sheth, President, CAI, says the Corporation had procured about 8.7 million bales from farmers as part of the Government’s minimum support price commitment.
India is the second largest producer of man-made fibres (MMF) in the world with presence of large plants having state-of-the art technology. MMF textiles constitute almost two-third of the domestic textile market. However, India´s share in global exports of value -added textiles of MMF is miniscule.
The Hon?ble Minister was apprised that while Textile Industry was expecting a strong focus from the Government, however, there was no mention of it and nothing was done in the Budget to improve the health of the Textile sector.
