India’s apparel exports to the US rose 4.3 per cent y-o-y in January 2017. Export volumes increased 8.6 per cent but export realisation fell four per cent.

Polyester is now one of the most commonly used fibres in the global textile and apparel industry, accounting for more than half of the overall fibre used worldwide.

US apparel and footwear industry operating profits are expected to be three to five per cent this year. Conditions are expected to remain challenging in the first six months and will begin to improve in the second half.

The annual International Apparel Federation (IAF) convention will be held in Brazil on October 17 to 18, 2017. IAF is the only federation in the world that has relationships with apparel associations in over 60 countries, including the US, India, China, Germany, France, Italy, South Korea and Taiwan.

India?s apparel exports to the US fell by 4.8 per cent y-o-y in December 2016, but maintained its position as the sixth largest apparel exporter to the US.

Panama is a growing market for textiles and clothing products. Exports of Indian MMF textiles to Panama have been steadily growing during 2015-16. Panama is also a potential market for other textile products like apparel, cotton and silk etc. Panama imported around $2.38 billion of various textile products during 2015.
