NITRA, India’s premier textile research association has launched Focus Incubation Centre (FIC), a step towards innovation. Further, NITRA in association with Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) is also planning to come out with a competition to identify bright and innovative ideas, and help such ideas be converted into commercial utility.

The Textiles Ministry has engaged 21 e-commerce companies so far for online marketing of handloom products. To promote e-marketing of handloom products, a policy framework was designed under which any willing e-commerce platform with good track record can participate in the online marketing, Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta said.

The Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC), one of the oldest export promotion councils in India, recently gave away export awards in a function held on January 27, 2018 in Mumbai. Present during the occasion was: Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Minister of Textiles & Information and Broadcasting; Ajay Tamta, Union Minister of State for Textiles; Anant Kumar Singh, Secretary, Textiles; Dr Kavita Gupta, Textile Commissioner; Rughani, Vice Chairman; Anil Rajvanshi, Convenor, Export Award Committee; and Rajen Udeshi of Reliance Industries.

On February 9, 2018 KARL MAYER welcomed the Indian Minister of State for Textiles, Ajay Tamta, at its Development Center in Obertshausen, Germany. Tamta was accompanied by Anant Kumar Singh, Secretary Government of India, Ministry of Textiles, and by other delegates from the Ministry and Consulate General.
