Shirpur’s CTF Diploma: Textile Tech + industry exposure & 100% placement

The state-of-the-art Centre for Textile Functions (CTF) at Shirpur in Mukesh Patel School of Technology & Management, NMIMS Deemed-to-be-University, has been at the forefront of providing quality education in the field of textile technology since its establishment in 2007. CTF is the only institute in India that operates as an integral part of the textile industry, catering to the rural youth and preparing them for promising careers in the world’s second-largest employment provider, the textile industry.
Admissions for the three-year Diploma in Textile Technology program are now open, with an intake capacity of 120 students per year. Eligible candidates should have a minimum of 50 per cent marks in aggregate in their 10th and 12th examinations. The registration process has begun and the selection is based on merit.
With a curriculum designed to develop a strong knowledge base, presentation skills, industry-based project work and work ethics, the Diploma in Textile Technology program at CTF offers students a comprehensive education. The program boasts an eminent and highly-qualified faculty with expertise in various areas such as Spinning, Weaving, Processing, Garment Manufacturing, Man-made Fibre Manufacturing and Technical Textiles.
One of the unique features of the program is the collaboration between CTF and Textile Industries at Shirpur Textile Park, which facilitates practical sessions, training and project development. CTF also maintains affiliations with other textile units to enhance the teaching and learning process. Students enrolled in the program benefit from various unique features, including industrial exposure through practical sessions at Shirpur Textile Park and other textile industries, emphasis on hands-on learning, strong industry relations for placements and curriculum development and thorough in-plant training in all aspects of textile manufacturing processes.
Upon successful completion of the program, students have diverse career opportunities in sectors such as process engineering, R&D, production control, technical sales, quality control, corporate management, industrial engineering, product development, marketing and many more.

The practical experience gained at Shirpur Textile Park plays a crucial role in providing students with valuable industrial exposure. Graduates initially find placements in production, quality control and technical services in specialisations like spinning, weaving, knitting, chemical processing and garmenting. Some of their recruiters include Welspun, Raymond, Trident Group, Spentex industries, Wellknown Polyester and Rajashree Polyfil, among other leading names in the industry.
The Diploma in Textile Technology program at CTF has transformed the lives of its students, opening doors to well-paid positions and remarkable success. Two alumni, Mukesh Patil and Bhushan Kumbhar, shared their inspiring stories of triumph.
From the humble village of Rohini in Shirpur Taluka, District Dhule, Mukesh Patil embarked on a remarkable journey in the textile industry. Growing up in a lower middle-class family with limited means, Mukesh’s pursuit of education led him to enroll in the Diploma in Textile Technology program at the Centre for Textile Functions (CTF) after completing his 10th grade at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule High School, Shirpur. Despite the financial challenges, Mukesh’s determination and talent shone through as he secured a life-changing opportunity at Welspun India’s nonwoven division in Anjar, Gujarat. With a firm belief in the future prospects of this specialization, Mukesh persevered and honed his skills, gaining invaluable experience in the industry. His hard work paid off as he steadily climbed the career ladder. Recently, Mukesh made a strategic move, transitioning to vision Non-Wovens in Jamnagar, where he currently serves as the Process and Production Manager. Today, he takes immense pride in his achievements, knowing that he has not only transformed his own life but also created opportunities for others.
Hailing from the serene village of Torkheda in Taluka Shahada, District Nandurbar, Bhushan Kumbhar’s journey into the world of textile technology is inspiring. Following his 10th grade education at Kadma Bande High School, Bhushan set out to explore employment-oriented courses, eventually discovering the Diploma in Textile Technology program at CTF. Coming from a lower-middle-class family, Bhushan recognized the significance of education and seized the opportunity to pursue his dreams. He enrolled in the program at CTF in 2016. During his time at CTF, Bhushan and his peers were exposed to state-of-the-art textile manufacturing machinery at the Shirpur Textile Park, allowing him to gain hands-on experience and practical knowledge. Upon completing his diploma, Bhushan secured a position at Alok Industry’s garment division. Subsequently, he joined Banswara Syntex Limited in Surat, further enriching his experience in the field. Currently, Bhushan has embarked on a new chapter in his career, joining Arvind’s garment manufacturing division in Ranchi, where he enjoys a well-deserved annual package.

The Centre for Textile Functions (CTF) was established in 2007 at Shirpur in Mukesh Patel School of Technology & Management under Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) – Deemed to be University. We have an eminent high-qualified faculty with strong teaching and research experience in diversified areas such as Spinning, Weaving, Processing, Garment Manufacturing, Man-made Fibre Manufacturing and Technical Textiles. The curriculum is developed in such a way that it aids in the development of clarity in knowledge base, presenting skills, industry-based project work, and understanding work ethics and values on the shop floor as a textile professional. CTF signed an MOU with Textile Industries at Shirpur Textile Park to assist with practical sessions, training, and project development. Other textile units are also affiliated with CTF to support in the teaching and learning process.
