The Dinh Vu Polyester fibre plant (PVTex) in Vietnam has resumed operations of three production lines and is expected to produce 189 tonnes of yarn in a month’s span. The plant which comes under the ministry of industry and trade is being revived as the government has planned to deal with the problems of various such loss-making enterprises.

Bamag experts from Germany, who provide copyrights for the equipment used for manufacturing yarn, is helping PVTex operate the three yarn spinning lines. Yarn manufactured at PVTex possesses qualities like thinness, elastic force and fabric elongation. Experiments were conducted initially at the plant’s laboratory that proved that its products adhered to the quality requirements, according to Vietnamese media reports.

A subsidiary of PetroVietnam, PVTex had started operations in May 2014 with an investment of $325 million. It used to generate 236 tonnes of fibre per day. The plant closed down in September 2015 due to losses of close to $55.3 million.
