NIT Textile Department secures Rs 6 crore research funding

This fund has been sanctioned for four research projects in the field of technical textiles.

The Department of Textile Technology at Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) has been granted Rs 6.78 crore for four research projects in the field of technical textiles by the Union Ministry of Textile.

Prof Vinay Midha has been granted a project of Rs 2.15 crore for runoff erosion control utilising jute and coir biaxial stitch bonded non-woven geotextiles.

Dr Mukesh Bajya has been sanctioned a project of Rs 1.88 crore for the development of cost-effective ballistic and stab-resistant soft body armor by employing various high-performance materials. Dr N K Palaniswamy has received a project worth Rs 1.78 crore for the development of solution blow spinning (SBS) of micro/nanofibre fabrics for air filtration.

Dr ZB Kamble has been granted a project worth Rs 1.05 crore for the design and manufacturing of advanced and multifunctional textile structural composite materials using textile waste, as a potential technique alternative to electro spinning.
