Textile Sector Skill Council (TSC) has begun collating data from the mill sector to understand the industry?s job role training requirement, for submission to the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

Bangladeshi spinners demand introduction of warehousing facility for cotton trade to reduce lead-time and ensure the timely sourcing of the fibre. Under the facility, merchants from different countries will store cotton at Chittagong port warehouses to sell out their cotton to the local cotton importers and spinners.

Dr NN Mahapatra of Colorant Ltd has penned a new book titled ´Textiles and Environment´. The book has been written in accordance to the author´s personal experience while he was working in big corporate companies as general manager of the dye house.

In their May report, the USDA has released its first complete set of estimates for an upcoming crop year. The projection for world production in 2015-16 is 111.3 million bales, which represents an 8.0 million bale decrease (-6.7 per cent) relative to the 119.3 million bales harvested in 2014-15.

Swiss-based Santex Group has decided to improve the local sales organisation in India in the segment of technical textiles. As of April, Santex named Jude Britto as Head of Sales (Technical Textiles and Emerging Technologies). He has been with Santex Engineering India PVT Ltd, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Santex Group in Coimbatore for nearly 11 years.
