The ceramitec conference, the new conference format of the world’s leading trade fair ceramitec, celebrated its successful premiere on 19 and 20 September 2019 with over 200 attendees from 21 countries. The focus of the agenda was on new industrial use opportunities for the material ceramic and the associated new (additive) manufacturing processes. High-caliber speakers from academia and industry illustrated how the material can contribute to solving a diverse range of future challenges in, for instance, the automotive, aerospace, electronics, manufacturing and health sectors. Sharing the stage with experts from institutions including NASA, DLR, various Fraunhofer Institutes and Universities, were experts from companies including Eirich, Netzsch and Xjet.
“Ceramic can now offer attractive opportunities for more and more applications and sectors. But this is still frequently unknown. To improve access to solutions using ceramic for new user sectors in particular, we wanted to give the material an additional forum alongside our trade fairs,†said Gerhard Gerritzen, Board Member of Messe München, explaining the motives behind the new event. The good public response and the quality of the agenda are evidence that we have struck the right chord with this.â€Â
The agenda of the ceramitec conference was divided into two tracks. The track entitled “Shape the Future†powered by AM Ceramics took a detailed look at the use of additive manufacturing processes in high-performance ceramics. “Additive Manufacturing has now definitely found its place in ceramic production as more and more companies are recognizing the potential of this process. AM Ceramics integrated into the ceramitec conference offered an ideal platform to present the extensive range of application opportunities and their benefits,†commented Johannes Lithoz GmbH. The track was in fact a continuation of the successful AM Ceramics conference series which in previous years had been held in Vienna or Nuremberg.
The second track entitled “Industrial Applications†examined new uses for high-performance ceramics in industry. Additive manufacturing processes were also very prominent in this track. Dr Jürgen Blumm, Managing Director of Netzsch Gerätebau GmbH and Chairman of the Advisory Board of ceramitec, explained the development: “Digitization and additive manufacturing in particular are increasingly finding their way into the production of ceramic materials. This will open up completely new applications and, in this regard, the ceramitec conference has provided an impressive overview.â€Â
The next event to be held in Germany from Messe München’s ceramic trade fair portfolio is the ceramitec trade fair which will take place from Monday 17 May to Thursday 20 May 2021 in Munich. The start of the trade fair has been brought forward by one day and will not take place, as previously announced, from 18 – 21 May 2021.
