NIFT comes up with ten more design resource centres

New Delhi

According to the Textile Ministry, ten more design resource centres have been set up by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in order to help the handloom sector.

These centres have been set up at service centres in Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Kannur, Hyderabad, Meerut, Bhagalpur, Nagpur, Panipat, and Indore. The report also said that these centres are going to facilitate exporters, weavers, manufacturers, and designers to get access to design repositories for product improvisation and development. Also, these centres will be set up in a phased manner.

The big cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Varanasi, and Jaipur already have such established weavers service centres. As per the textile ministry, each of these weavers’ service centres has accumulated a large number of handloom designs and samples.

In general, NIFT is the pioneering institute of fashion education in the country which was set up in 1986.
