Beximco,
a leading multinational company in Bangladesh, recently opened a complex worth $100
million for the production of personal protective equipment (PPE), according to
a prominent news agency.

The
25 acre vertically integrated facility is positioned in Savar, near Dhaka.
Beximco will produce laminated fabrics and meltblown nonwovens for making
medical textiles such as surgical gowns, disposable scrubs, N95 masks, and
covers for shoes and head.

Syed
Naved Husain, CEO, Beximco, said, “The new facility will help manufacturers,
buyers, retailers, brands and the government with required services, since all
the services will be available under one roof, encompassing European, American
and other global regulatory standards. This should help us realise our vision
of seeing Bangladesh as the largest manufacturer and exporter of PPE products,”
in a news report.

Intertek
and Beximco have developed a PPE center of excellence at the Beximco Health PPE
Industrial Park, which has an advanced PPE lab capable of testing all levels to
comply with US, EU and UK standards.

Beximco
PPE Division manufactures high quality PPE suits, masks, aprons, patient
scrubs, disposable gowns, caps, shoe covers, hospital bedsheets, pillow covers,
and curtains. This unit synergises with Beximco Group’s talents and knowledge
across textiles, apparels, pharmaceuticals and research and collaboration with
Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Memorial Hospital.
