Dhruvil Panchal, Business Development Executive, Shakti Textile Traders,

What smart automation initiatives has your company implemented to enhance production efficiency?

Currently, we are in the R&D and testing phase of smart automation, with a clear focus on solutions that directly benefit weaving mills. Our studies are centered on reducing changeover time, improving operational consistency, and simplifying machine handling, so that future automation delivers measurable productivity gains without increasing operational complexity.

How do you assess the current state of the Indian textile machinery industry?

The Indian textile machinery sector is currently dynamic and growing, driven by increased domestic textile production and rising global demand. There’s strong momentum toward automation, quality standardisation, and indigenous R&D — positioning India to compete more effectively with global manufacturers.

What key innovations is your company currently focusing on or developing?

We are focusing on enhanced automation features in warp tying systems, improved user-interface controls, and optimised designs that deliver higher speed, accuracy, and energy efficiency. These innovations are aimed at minimising production downtime and increasing overall productivity for weaving operations.

What major challenges and opportunities do you foresee for the Indian textile machinery industry in the coming years?

A key challenge is keeping pace with rapidly advancing global automation technologies. However, this also presents opportunity: India’s strong manufacturing base, skilled workforce, and rising adoption of smart solutions position the industry well for export growth and greater competitiveness worldwide.

What support or policy measures do you expect from the government to help the textile machinery industry become globally competitive?

Supportive policies that encourage R&D investment, favourable export incentives, and enhanced skill development programs would significantly strengthen the industry’s global footprint. Additionally, streamlined compliance and infrastructure support can help reduce costs and accelerate innovation.
