Cavitec has launched  Cavimelt Pro, an innovative two-in-one machine designed for swift switching between rotogravure and full-surface coating.

Cavitec, a part of the Santex Rimar Group, has launched a game-changing addition to its high-performance coating, laminating, and impregnating solutions – the Cavimelt Pro. This innovative two-in-one machine is designed for swift switching between rotogravure and full-surface coating, offering unparalleled bonding performance and sustainability in hot melt adhesive applications.

The process may sound simple – bonding two layers to create a laminate – but it demands a deep understanding of materials, adhesives, technology, and machinery to achieve superior results. Cavitec, a renowned brand, is known for its commitment to meeting the critical requirements of the industry.

Stephane Fernandez, Head of Sales and Lab (Hotmelt Division) at Cavitec, states, “We have engaged in countless discussions with customers and potential customers over several years, combining the insights gained with our own experience to design exactly the machines that customers want.”

The Cavimelt Pro, a bi-functional hotmelt laminating machine, allows for quick and effortless switching between rotogravure and full-surface coating, thanks to its innovative technology. A quick-change head streamlines the process, enabling users to switch from one coating method to the other in seconds without needing tools.

One of the standout features is the dosing roller, driven by an individual motor for precise and smooth operation. Additionally, the positioning of the doctor blade minimises the risk of leaking, even with extremely low viscosity values. The machine also boasts high-precision wedge gap control between dosing and gravure/application rolls to adjust coating weight seamlessly.

The Cavimelt Pro utilises hotmelt technology, involving solvent-free thermoplastic polymers or thermoset pre-polymers heated to their melting points before application. This process is widely used in textiles and offers excellent bonding capabilities without subjecting substrates to thermal stress.

Applications for the Cavimelt Pro range from mattress ticking and grinding paper production with full-surface coating to rotogravure applications in breathable activewear, protective wear, lingerie, upholstery, automotive seats, hygiene products, medical supplies, technical composites, and roofing materials.

The machine excels in handling sensitive materials and innovative applications, accommodating substrates as thin as 5 micrometres and foam up to 20 millimetres thick. Its precise mechanical control ensures consistent quality by maintaining tension and even pressure across the roll width.

Beyond its performance, the Cavimelt Pro stands out for its sustainability. As a solvent and water-free process that requires no drying or sintering, it minimises environmental impact and reduces energy consumption.

“Cavimelt Pro unites the full set of advantages that can drive success in the finishing business,” highlights Fernandez. With its flexibility, quality, and sustainability, this innovation promises to empower users to achieve unmatched coating results and meet high sustainability standards, making it a coveted addition to the industry.
