During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasised that the new policy should be more effective than the previous 2018-2023 policy.

The Andhra Pradesh government is set to launch a new textile policy aimed at attracting investments worth Rs 100 billion to the textile sector.

N Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh, chaired a review meeting at the Secretariat to discuss the new policy. The draft policy was approved, and the Chief Minister instructed the officials to present it to the Cabinet soon. Additionally, Naidu reviewed the Leather Policy and recommended further deliberations on it.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasised that the new policy should be more effective than the previous 2018-2023 policy. He stressed that it should create widespread employment opportunities, particularly for women, at the grassroots level.

He stated that the new policy would position Andhra Pradesh as the top destination for investments in the textile industry.

The policy aims to generate 2 lakh jobs, with a focus on weaving, processing, garments, and integrated units, through the provision of incentives. It will also offer capital subsidies and additional incentives for SC, ST, BC, minorities, and women.
