Alchemie’s Endeavour dyeing tech cuts water use by up to 92%

Fashion for Good-backed APM study validates major cuts in energy use and emissions.

Alchemie Technology, a provider of jet precision dyeing solutions, has reported that its Endeavour digital dyeing platform can deliver up to 92 per cent water savings in textile dyeing, as validated through an independent third-party assessment.

The demonstration was conducted under Fashion for Good’s Advanced Process Matrix (APM) assessment and validated by BluWin. The initiative is part of Fashion for Good’s efforts to identify sustainable and low-carbon solutions for “Future Forward Factories,” supporting the industry’s shift from wet processing to dry processing.

According to the assessment, carried out in Taiwan in September 2025, Endeavour’s polyester dyeing process—excluding pre and post treatment—achieved up to 92 per cent reduction in water consumption compared to traditional jet dyeing and up to 90 per cent reduction compared to the Thermosol method.

The assessment also found that the technology eliminates steam usage entirely, resulting in a reduction in total energy consumption by up to 86 per cent versus Thermosol and up to 70 per cent versus jet dyeing. While the process is fully electric and increases electricity usage between 30 per cent and 128 per cent, it enables a net reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by up to 86 per cent compared to Thermosol and up to 70 per cent compared to jet dyeing.

Data for the assessment was captured in a commercial production environment, indicating that the Endeavour platform is production-ready. The system operates at line speeds of 35 metres per minute, with potential for higher speeds depending on fabric specifications. The dyed polyester fabrics also achieved colour fastness grades of 4 and above across all test cases, meeting standard industry requirements.

“The assessment was orchestrated by our partner, Fashion for Good under their APM project to validate the performance and impact of Endeavour,” said Dr Alan Hudd, CEO and Founder, Alchemie Technology. “The results of the APM or most people understand as a form of LCA confirm that it is possible to significantly reduce water, energy, and emissions in our dyeing process, without compromising on quality or production efficiency.”

Endeavour is a configurable digital dyeing platform designed for polyester, cotton and man-made cellulosic fibres. It uses Alchemie’s proprietary dye application system to apply dye precisely to fabric, reducing excess dye usage and eliminating the need for large volumes of heated water.

The APM assessment compared the Endeavour polyester process against conventional jet exhaust dyeing and Thermosol methods using full production workflow data, reinforcing Alchemie Technology’s position in offering scalable and sustainability-driven dyeing solutions for the global textile industry.
