TAI appoints new office-bearers for 2017-19

The Textile Association (India), Mumbai Unit announced new office bearers for the year 2017-2019. Vilas Gharat has been named as the new President of TAI, while TK Sengupta if the new Vice President. C Bose is President Emeritus of TAI.

Other important appointments include: VC Gupte as Chairman, Dr GS Nadiger and Rajiv Ranjan as Vice Chairmans, AV Mantri as Honorary Secretary, RR Mehta and Arun K Narkar as Joint Honorary Secretaries, and MB Nambiar as Honorary Treasurer.

Gharat started his career with Thackersey Group as a Spinning Master and then worked with Chawgule Textiles at Goa. He then worked with Tata and Finlay Mills as a Manager. He then joined MSTC as a General Manager and also worked with Birla’s in Indonesia, Bhojsons in Nigeria as CEO. He had privilege of working at a very senior positions in corporates like S. Kumar’s as a President and Morarjee Brembana Ltd as a Senior President. He was also Technical & Commercial Advisor in J. K. Cotton Mills, Kanpur and Business Consultant for Oswal Hammerle which is a joint venture project of Oswal Group and F.M. Hammerle (Austria).

Gharat has a vast experience of 40 years in manufacturing function in all composite sectors of textile industry. He is the recipient of Awards like Best GM in MSTC, Gold Medal in Energy Conservation, Best Vendors Awards from Johnson & Johnson and FTA from The Textile Association (India). He is presently a Managing Director of Gharat & Associates which provides world class Technical, HRD, Quality, Solutions and Consulting Services. He is also a Group Advisor for S. Kumars Pvt. Ltd. and Executive Director of Suvin Advisors Pvt. Ltd.

Sengupta has worked with well reputed companies like Reliance Industries Ltd, Indorama Synthetics Ltd, Modern Petrofiles, Vardhman Group, Fiberglass Pilkington Ltd. (FGP), at Senior Management Positions. He was also was associated with Burlington Glass Fabrics Co, (Burlington Industries), USA. He retired as President from Modern Petrofils.

Sengupta was awarded by The Synthetic and Rayon Export Promotion Council for highest export of polyester filament yarn from India for the year 1995-1996 and 1996-1997. He also received Certificate of Merit for Second Highest Export to Latin American Countries from ITPO for the period 1998-1999.

Sengupta is associated as Advisor with Yardi Prabhu Consultant and Valuers Pvt Ltd, one of the largest valuation and consultancy company rendering financial, technical, project management, TEV study, lenders independent engineers (LIE), mergers and acquisitions. Presently, he is also associated with DFU Publications as an advisor. He has presented many papers in important seminars/conferences.
