ATDC, CED sign MoU to enhance skill development

The Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC), India’s largest vocational training provider in apparel sector signed an MoU with the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) with the aim of bridging the gap between the requirement and availability of skilled workforce and setting up ATDC center for training at SUC campus at Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC), India’s largest vocational training provider in apparel sector signed an MoU with the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) with the aim of bridging the gap between the requirement and availability of skilled workforce and setting up ATDC center for training at SUC campus at Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Gandhinagar, Gujarat. An MoU was signed between Dr Darlie Koshy, DG &CEO, ATDC; Dr RN Prasad, Director, CED in the august presence of Smriti Irani, Union Minister for Textiles; Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister, Gujarat; Dr JN Singh, Chief Secretary, Gujarat; Anand Kumar, Secretary – Textiles, at Mahatma Mandir Convention, Gandhinagar. An MoU aims at imparting employment-oriented training and encourages entrepreneurship through skill development to the youth.

On the occasion Hari Kapoor said “ATDC vocational institutes are a vital part of the skill development system for careers in apparel, fashion and textiles having a pan-India presence. We aim to help the students in learning necessary skills required for a bright future, which will help in getting jobs or to start their own businesses.” Dr Koshy said: “Signing the MoU strengthens the relationship with forward-looking Gujarat Government and helps ATDC to focus on imparting the entrepreneurial skills required to create new developments in the apparel industry.”

ATDC will be offering short and long-term vocational skill training programmes for the apparel sector at the center and similarly related courses under various schemes such as Gujarat State Skill Development Mission (GSSDM), CED, MoT or PMKVY (NSDC), NULM (Ministry of Urban Development, GoI), etc. ATDC will provide industry-vetted, QP/NSQF aligned curricula, training materials and qualified trainers for conducting the training programmes.

“I am very happy with the facilities and state-of-the-art infrastructure at ATDC. I am confident that ATDC will offer a platform for skilled manpower in garment sector especially with focus on entrepreneurship,” said Dr Ram Nath Prasad, Director, CED.

The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) is a premier organisation of Government of Gujarat, engaged in entrepreneurship development training and skill development since 1979. The concept behind CED is to develop entrepreneurs in the urban as well as rural areas of the state, who can establish their own manufacturing or service enterprise which in turn aids in the economic growth of the state and also creates employment opportunities for others.

ATDC has emerged as India’s largest quality vocational training provider for the apparel sector with over 200 directly – run ATDCs including 65 ATDC-Vocational Institutes spread across 23 states, 86 cities and about 150 districts pan-India. ATDC is a unique organisation offering shop floor, supervisory and managerial-level training courses, i.e., three months to three years duration programmes or 300 hours to 3,000 hours ranging from NSQF level 01-03 to 05-07. ATDC has a vast pool of over 500 faculty resources with a range of expertise and domain skills covering most critical areas of textile apparel value chain. ATDC already has a presence of seven centres in Gujarat, and from 2006, it has nearly trained 10,000 students for skill development.
