As per the data, the turnover from the
textile exports in Vietnam has hit around $19 billion in the first six months
of 2021. This turnover is 20% up from the last year’s data.

According to Le
Tien Truong, Chairman, Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group, the
businesses are highly affected due to the severe impact of the fourth wave of
Covid-19. According to Vu Duc Giang, Chairman, Vietnam Textile and Apparel
Association, the country is set to earn $39 billion from garment and textile
exports in 2021.

It is suggested
that the businesses should proactively seek sources of raw materials for
domestic production in order to meet their targets. They should also take
advantage of opportunities from new-generation free trade agreements that the
country has joined. Giang also suggested that the businesses need to expand
their markets through specific measures and should also promote chain based
production. This will further push exports and will work for the betterment of
the country.

Some
representatives from other textile and garment companies suggested that the
businesses should pay attention to modernising production equipment, improving
workers’ capacity, and expanding production. This will help businesses to meet
the high quality orders and demand requirements of the importers.
