Oerlikon Neumag supplies nonwovens plant to Western Europe. Following the recent investment by Scottish company Don & Low, another leading western European nonwoven manufacturer has invested in an Oerlikon Neumag meltblown plant. The now signed contract comprises a system for the production of nonwovens made from polyolefins and other raw materials. The commercial production launch has been scheduled for the first half of 2017.

Although bicomponent yarns have been around for about 50 years now and they are not a new phenomenon, we have seen a constant increase in demand over the past few years (with frequent fashion-related peaks in 2015, for example). The WTO has launched a new World Trade Outlook Indicator (WTOI) designed to provide ‘real-time’ information on trends in global trade. The WTOI was unveiled in Shanghai, China recently, ahead of a meeting of G20 trade ministers. Combining a variety of trade-related indices, WTOI is designed to give an early signal of the current direction of world trade and where it is likely to go in the near future. In this way the WTOI should signal turning points in world merchandise trade volume. It complements existing tools such as the WTO’s longer-term trade forecasts, and other statistical releases. WTOI gives a headline figure to show performance against trend.

The Government of India has recently announced a scheme targeting at its garment export to reach $30 billion in three years. Prime Minister Modi’s government recently unveiled a scheme with an annual outlay of about (Rs 6,000 crore that will enable the country to reach $30 billion in garment export in three years. The scheme is labour friendly and empowers women and underpriviledged working in the garment and allied sectors. In three years, the initiative is expected to attract additional investments worth $11 billion and will provide 10 million new jobs.
