GSI-BTRA-ASTM organises meet on geosynthetics

G SI India-BTRA-ASTM International jointly organised a seminar-cum-ASTM D35 meeting on ?Testing, Standards and Applications of Geosynthetics? on December 2-3, 2015 at The Bombay Textile Research Association (BTRA), Mumbai. On December 3, 2015, a meeting of ASTM D-35 on Geosynthetics was held at BTRA, wherein issues concerning ASTM standards of testing geosynthetics were discussed. Experts from USA and India spoke in this seminar and in the end a panel discussion was also held.

Topics covered in the seminar include:

  • Geosynthetic Barriers and ASTM Standards by Bob Mackey, S2Li
  • Geosynthetic Reinforcement and ASTM Standards by Michael Bernardi, Strata
  • Determination of the Connection Strength between reinforcement and facing elements by Prof K Rajagopal, IIT Madras
  • Application of Geocells in Indian Roads: A Laboratory and Field Perspective by Prof Sireesh Saride, IIT Hyderabad
  • Geosynthetic Drains/Filters and ASTM Standards by Sam Allen, TRI/GTSPL
  • Erosion Control and ASTM Standards by Joel Sprague, TRI
  • Use of Geogrids and Geocells on Steep Slopes of Landfills by Prof Manoj Datta, IIT Delhi
  • Panel discussion

ASTM D35 meeting on geosynthetics was held to discuss the following: Mechanical properties standards; endurance properties and D35.03 permeability standards; erosion control standards; geosynthetic clay liners and D35.10 Geomembranes standards; and main closing and subcommittee reports.
