Texfair 2013 lends new hopes to golden era vision

Texfair 2013, and the concurrent event, Farm to Finish Expo 2013 came to an end on December 16, 2013, on a very hopeful note for the textile industry. About 210 companies took part at the Texfairs 8th edition, held at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore, and 60 exhibitors showcased their products in the Farm to Finish Expo 2013.

Organised by the Southern India Mills Association (SIMA), a single largest and oldest employers Association representing the textile industry, the events received accolades from all, since the professional approach of the organisers, was evident right from the day one. The inauguration struck the keynote for the coming year, with stalwarts including Prem Malik, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), T Rajkumar, Chairman of SIMA, S Dinakaran, Chairman of Texfair, Diven Dembla, Chairman of ITAMMA and A Sakthivel, Chairman of Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) raising the hopes for the textile industry exhorting it to meet the challenges of the coming years.

This is the second chance to march ahead, said Prem Malik. The crowd responded with enthusiasm, and eventually the visitors, who came in droves to various stalls seemed to make everyone feel that the golden era for the Indian textile industry is around the corner.

Trade enquiries worth Rs 500 crore are reported out of the SIMA Texfair 2013 and Farm to Finish Expo 2013, with the visitors numbers touching 75,000, according to the organisers. The Farm to Finish Expo was praised by one and all since its maiden appearance was a complement to the main show. The 60-odd stalls included right from fibre stage to yarns & other utilities related to textile industry. The profile of the exhibitors of SIMA Texfair included leading international and national textile machinery, spares, accessories, equipment manufacturers and various other service providers including utilities. SIMAs Farm to Finish Expo 2013 attracted exhibitors right from cotton seed manufacturers to finished goods manufacturers including retailing, financial institutions, educational institutions, export promotion councils and various textile associations.

T Rajkumar has stated that the textile industry is buoyant owing to improved international and domestic market conditions particularly demands from countries like China. He has stated that leading machinery manufacturers have received orders to be delivered in the next six to eight months taking advantage of new RR-TUFS and favourable market conditions.
