The flow of work orders to the garment industry is rebounding strongly due to the reopening of retail and branded stores in Europe and the US, the two main export destinations for the apparel manufacturers in Bangladesh.

The garment makers in Bangladesh have requested the government to ease down the conditions for the import of cotton, yarn, and other fabrics as Bangladesh has started to receive orders from international retailers and brands.
With the Covid-19 situation in the US under control to some extent, export of readymade garments has risen to the US from various countries. Bangladesh could not take advantage of this and its exports have declined.
Myanmar’s political instability, lockdown in Cambodia and a the COVID-19 situation in India has prompted international retailers and brands to divert work orders to Bangladesh. Export earnings hit $3.13 billion in April.
