The State Industries Department of Bihar has signed an MoU with the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC) to provide yarn on credit to weavers for 45 days. Bihar, in fact, became the first State in the country to sign such an agreement with NHDC and the State Industries Department has created a corpus of Rs 1 crore for this scheme.
The National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd (NHDC) has kick-started one of its major initiatives ‘Silk Fab’ to connect consumers and weavers at one platform from Mumbai recently. Ujjwal Uke, IAS, Principal Secretary (Textile), Government of Maharashtra has inaugurated ’Silk Fab’ at World Trade Centre, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai. Around 100 agencies belonging to 14 states will be participating in this initiative.
