India ITME Society organised a networking dinner on November 16, 2015 at Milan to promote the opportunities in India for textile machinery manufactures. This programme was attended by industry members, associations and government officials from various countries.

For the man-made fibre industry (MMF) in India, its disgruntlement is turning into unceasing aggression. The reasons are many: China exports 65 per cent of manmade textiles out of its exports of $650 billion while India´s share of manmade textiles is hardly 20 per cent out of its exports of $40 billion.

Bilateral collaboration and technical exchanges between United States and India in technical textiles are planned as a part of the United States and India strategic and commercial cooperation. The US Secretary of State John Kerry and US Commerce Secretary, Penny Pritzker welcomed India´s External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj

In Maharashtra, after the declaration of State Textile Policy, a total of 769 projects with investment of Rs 6,690 crore have been established. The investment have come predominantly into the developed textile machinery of spinning and weaving sector.

S Senthilkumar, President, ITAMMA in his welcome speech mentioned that Government of India has recently proposed a drive in favour of indigenous manufacturing and taking several policy decisions to make its ´Make in India´ campaign successful; where changes have been made in import and export duty structures as well as excise and other areas which will help the textile engineering industry to make the business at ease.
